ARAI, over five decades, has provided its design and development expertise to the Indian automotive industry, focusing on the testing and evaluation of components and systems to meet national and international standards. ARAI strives to achieve international recognition in these areas. In keeping pace with the globalization of economy and business, ARAI continues to enlarge its scope of services to meet the requirements of automotive industries around the world.

In addition to utilizing state-of-the-art technology, laboratories and highly-skilled personnel, ARAI recognizes the need for skill development to meet the demands of the automotive industry, not just in India but across the globe. ARAI has embarked upon a programme of building up human resources by commencing educational programme (Graduate, Post graduate & Doctoral) with specialization in Automotive Engineering.

In addition to academic partnership with premier institutions in India, ARAI has association with University of Alabama (USA), Tennessee Tech University (USA), Loughborough University (UK) and Braunschweig University (Germany).

These partnerships are in form of

1) Student Exchange programmes - in which the students from Academy depute themselves to these universities for their undergraduate/graduate thesis (for the duration of six months). After fulfilling the pre-requisites of the said university, the student then works towards his/her thesis starting from December till May of the subsequent year.

The students from the partnering universities also visit ARAI for their masters thesis.

2) Dual-Degree programmes - The two universities, University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and Tennessee Technology University (TNTech), along with CoEP and ARAI work towards transfer of credits so that the students can earn MS degree at the transferred University.

There are many engineers in industry who are doing basic & applied research and filling patents for their organisation.

However, they are not able to pursue further studies due to their efforts towards work-life balance. We would like to orient these engineers towards Research Methodology, which would be a compulsory subject in the credit course.
