  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree / A.M.I.E. in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Production Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering or Mechatronics are eligible for the programme. Admission is strictly on merit basis. Weightage is 25 % for transcripts of graduate degree, 40% for performance at Common Entrance Test, 25% for Personal Interview and 10 % for the extempore presentation on technical topic. A minimum mark of 60% at B. E. / B. Tech. level is cut-off criteria. Regarding common entrance exam, notification will be issued in Feb / March in newspapers & website. It is held at all India level at many centers including Pune, in the month of May every year. Information will also be available on www.vit.ac.in and the application form can be downloaded.

  • Two Years.

  • I am working in Automotive / Industry, can I get admission for M Tech (Automotive)?
  • Yes, you have to provide a Sponsorship Certificate from your Employer.

  • Can I do the Part time Post Graduate Course in Automotive?
  • Following are the programmes to be finalized by the September 2010 in collaboration with Loughborough University, UK.

    M. Sc. (Full Time) in Automotive System Engineering: 18 months 25 Seats
    M. Sc. (Part Time) in Automotive System Engineering : 36 months 25 Seats
    Ph. D. (Full Time) in Automotive System Engineering: 03 years 05 Seats
    Ph. D. (Part Time) in Automotive System Engineering: 05 years 05 Seats

    Each of the module would entail an intensive residential study week at ARAI together with work on prepared programme material and assignments requiring access to email and the internet.

    The modules at ARAI would be taught jointly by LU and ARAI Staff with an approximate proportion of 50:50.

  • What Proficiency Improvement Programme?
  • PIP Program gives graduate engineers who are working or who intend to work, in the automotive industry; knowledge and technical expertise in a wide range of automotive disciplines; a systems view point for automotive design and manufacture, with specific skills in formulating automotive engineering systems in terms of their function and performance; relevant and in depth knowledge in chosen areas, through optional modules.

  • Who are eligible for the Proficiency Improvement Programme?
  • Any working professional / graduate engineer / consultant / engineering college student.

  • What is PIP?
  • PIP stands for Proficiency Improvement Programme, which means training programmes. These training programmes are arranged at our facility, which are open for all industries, faculties and students on chargeable basis.

  • What is DTP?
  • DTP stands for Domain Training Programme, which are specifically customized training programmes for industries. Unlike PIPs, DTPs are closed forum training programmes, specific for industries based on their requirements and only for that industry employees.

  • What is E-PIP?
  • E-PIP stands for eLearning Proficiency Improvement Programme. ePIPs are highly engaging and effective Automotive eLearning courses in which you can learn the subject matter online using a range devices at their own pace, anytime and anywhere. ePIPs are cost effective as all the costs associated with the classroom training like trainer fees, venue rent, resource cost/time, etc. are eliminated. ePIPs will empower you to gain (practical and theoretical) knowledge on the latest automotive topics.

  • How to register for ePIP?
  • Please click the ePIP link. Under the 'Product Catalog' section, Select your desired course, then click Register.

  • How to register for PIP?
  • You can simply click on 'Register Now' button which is on page 'Proficiency Improvement Programme (PIP)' under Scheduled Programmes of each topic.

  • Will I get a Certificate?
  • Yes. For all the training programmes (PIP/DTP/ePIP), you will get a certificate if you satisfy the necessary criteria for test marks and attendance. In case of ePIP, on passing the Final Assessment successfully, you will receive an electronic certificate with ARAI logo and ARAI Academy HoD signature which you can print/download directly.

  • How can I pay?
  • You can either pay by DD/Cheque drawn against 'The Automotive Research Association of India' payable at Pune or through Online bank transfer to ARAI Account No- 04470200000280, with Beneficiary Bank IFSC/RTGS/NEFT Code: BARB0KARVER (0=ZERO) In case of ePIP you can also pay using Debit/Credit cards.

  • How to suggest a topic for future PIPs?
  • If you are looking for a PIP on specific topic, which is not listed in our Upcoming Programmes then you can simply click on 'Suggest Topic' nested under 'Training Center' page. After filling all the required details, you can click on suggest topic which is at the bottom of the same page.

  • What is Be a Speaker / trainer?
  • If you are interested to speak / teach on specific topic, you can click on 'Be a Speaker / trainer' and fill in all your details with areas of expertise and click on 'Submit'.

  • Who are eligible to use Knowledge Centre?
  • All member companies, member institutions, students, faculty members and all ARAI employees, are eligible to use the Knowledge Centre for reference.

  • What are the working hours of the Knowledge Centre?
  • The library timings are: Mon.- Fri. 8.30 am to 5.00 pm. Saturday, Sundays and Public holidays are closed.

  • How I can become a member of Knowledge Centre?
  • For enrolment as a member you need to fill-up the membership form which is available at circulation counter. Click the membership page to find more information.

  • What are the basic rules of the Knowledge Centre?
    • Return the borrowed books and other materials on time.
    • Return what you borrowed in good condition.
    • Keep track of your identity card.
    • Do not lend your library to anyone it is not transferable only you are allowed to use it.
  • How do I find material in the Library?
  • Click on the WebOPAC In search word(s), type the title of the book, subject, author or any keyword or word in the search bar and click Go button. The books will be displayed with details like status of availability, to whom issued and number of reservations. If book is issued, you can reserve the book by clicking Reserve Button.

  • What should I do if I can't find a book?
  • WEBOPAC, the online catalogue, will tell you if the item has been borrowed. If it's not on loan and not where it should be on the shelves, it might be in the re-shelving section or being consulted. If you still can't find it, ask at the Circulation Desk.

  • Can I connect to the WebOPAC from home?
  • Yes. The Library has a web-based library catalog available from our homepage by selecting the WebOPAC.

  • How many items can I borrow?
  • The books are issued to an individual against his identity card for ARAI employee & Academy students for the duration of 15 days and against the membership card for honorary member. The maximum number of books/CD and periodicals, that are issued to an individual are as follows:

  • How long can I borrow for?
  • Subject to recall by another reader, you may borrow a book for 15 days and periodical for 7 days. However, some high demand documents may be issued for shorter period. If an item is recalled from you, by e-mail notice, the minimum length of time you will have it for, is one week.

  • How do I renew an item?
  • You have to place your identity card along with the document at the appropriate Circulation Desk. Physical presence is essential.

  • How do I reserve an item?
  • If you see, from WEBOPAC, that an item is on loan, you can personally request the staff at the Issue Counter to reserve the title for you. At present, you cannot recall the book yourself. The person who has borrowed it will be informed requesting its return, and you will be intimated when the item is available for collection.

  • How can I recommend a book for purchase in the library?
  • An authorized user can recommend a book for purchase by filling a Book requisition form that can be obtained from the Knowledge Centre and submit it to the concerned staff. The form should be routed through the Head of your department for his/her recommendation.

  • What if the book is lost?
  • The user can replace the book with the same edition. If not, 1 ½ times of the cost of the book may be recovered from him/her.

  • What if I don't finish my book before it is due back at the Library?
  • You can reissue the book again if there is no demand from other users.

  • How to Calculate the Fines?
  • Fine is charged at Rs. 5.00 per book per day overdue for all users.

  • What if I don't have the money to pay for my overdue books?
  • Except ARAI employees, students and others members can borrow the books only after you pay the fine.

  • Can I bring my personal books or other reading materials to the library?
  • No. Users are not allowed to bring their personal books or other reading materials to the library.

  • What electronic resources are available to me?
  • The Library subscribes to SAE MOBILUS E-Books, Some Online Journals, and ARAI Digital Library, help you with your research. Please ask for individual assistance with these resources, if you need it.
